As a special school, we alternate between a Year A and Year B curriculum so that all of our pupils enjoy a breadth of study and avoid repeating topics and core texts.
This year we are learning from our Year B curriculum and you can get an overview of every subject your child will be studying at our website here:
https://www.torfieldschool.org/curriculum/your-childs-curriculum/class-overviews
You will see that for children in Key Stage One and Lower Key Stage Two we haven’t chosen the books they will be enjoying in Summer 2. This is because at Torfield we like to present these classes with a new book each year so that we are making sure our pupils are enjoying both established classics and newly published classics of the future.
Today, two of our pupils spent some time reading ‘Try’ by Rob Burrow, Kevin Sinfield and Emma Adams. It’s a big-hearted picture book about a friendship between two young boys and it might just be a book we pick to use as a core text in Summer 2.
If you have discovered a book which you think would be a great choice for your child’s class then please share it with your child’s teacher.
